Yarny Yarny Yarn Yarn 😊
Yarn is such a happy place. All on its own. Wouldn’t you agree? It’s soft, beautiful, useful… Good at keeping secrets… 😆
Tea I’m Drinking
Well, now it’s 9:20 p.m. I don’t really want an herbal tea… I think I’ll have some apple cider. Mmm.
What I’m Reading
How to be a Craftivist is dedicated “[To] everyone who wants to help improve our wonderful world in a beautiful, gentle and loving way.” Okay, that I can definitely get behind.
What’s on My Spinning Wheel
I started making a “plying ball” with my two Emerald singles, to make it a little easier to ply them together, when I do that. That’s what’s on the knitting needle, there. Didn’t finish, obviously. Not that it takes that long or anything. Do you like my high-tech setup, with the toilet paper rolls? 😁 Oh, just to be clear here, the spinning wheel’s only contribution to the current setup is the handy provision of a couple of upright posts to stick the toilet paper rolls on, so they’ll stay in place but spin freely as I pull the yarn singles off. A couple of upright posts called “maidens,” because spinning wheel part names are simply amazing. Like, that’s a relatively boring name, compared to some of the other parts. ANYWHO.
I think I succeeded in making one of my singles quite fine and lightweight, so I’m looking forward to measuring the finished yarn and finding out where it clocks in.
What’s on My Needles
Um, other than the needle I’m using to wind my plying ball after I wanted my thumb back, that is…
I’m trying to decide. I have a couple yarns I haven’t swatched at all yet, so I’m trying to figure out if there’s a particular pattern I want to try them out with.
Browses through the library knitting books on shelves. I think maybe I’ll try the Remy cowl pattern in Cozy Stash-Busting Knits by Jen Lucas. Mmm. And that’s just a stockinette stitch swatch, yes, I think I’ll try that one.
My Life Outside of the Felt Comfort Shop (Sorta. Mostly.)
I’m looking at tutoring English as a second language online. Some of the companies allow you to pick how much you’ll charge, and recommend charging less when you’re new, then later raising prices after you have a good base of students. Hmm. Kind of like I should probably be doing with my Etsy shop — lower some prices until I actually have some customers… Or maybe I’ll run some sales. Watch this space. 😁
Your Turn
What do you have going on? What’s your current WIP? Ooh, and what’s one of your favorite kinds or colors of yarn? Like, if you had a Top Ten, what would one of them be, in that Top Ten? Any of them, not necessarily the very most favorite.
Happy Weekend!
