As I shared a few weeks ago in Saving My Life, apparently I have limits. 😁 Unfortunately, I think that means I can’t keep up the January pace of publishing two things on Substack a week. For now. Maybe I’ll alternate, although (clearly) these last couple weekends I didn’t hit “Publish” on either one. 🤷♀️
Tea I’m Drinking
Irish Breakfast this morning at home, some English Breakfast at church, and hot apple cider this afternoon. The above is the apple cider, along with someone who also wanted some. I didn’t give her any. Meanest mama.
What I’m Reading
Cytonic by Brandon Sanderson! Third in the Skyward series! Which has nothing to do with crafting, but it’s really good and you should read it anyway! 😁 😊 Ack now I need it back from the library…

I mean. 😁 I do love Spensa so. And M-Bot. And Doomslug.
Oh! And then I started reading The Ultimate Book of Outfit Formulas by Alison Lumbatis, and then she tells you to pin or Google things you like, and to look for commonalities. I admit I was kind of rolling my eyes at the book at the beginning. But after I started looking online for outfits, I was like, “Oh yeah! Clothes can be pretty! This is so fun!”
I started pinning, and at first I made the board private, but then I was like, “What am I doing? I love this stuff! Let’s share it!” So here’s that, click for lots and lots of dresses, some formal, some casual, some vintage. And occasionally a beautiful sweater or something. And some beautiful coats. (Linda Marveng knitting patterns. And Xiaolizi on Etsy or at shopxiaolizi.com. I recommend.)
Other than the heels on the boots (I mean, I like them aesthetically, but not in practice), I love this outfit. Sweater and AMAZING dress. (Seriously, look at all the submitted pictures of the dress on Ravelry. It looks great on everyone.)
I have learned from this that I lean towards a classic style, with just a touch of bohemian. (Also apparently I have a thing for “mother of the bride” dresses? I wut…) And I tried shopping my closet to wear the original outfit formula in The Ultimate Book of Outfit Formulas, tweaking just a bit for what I had.
And this exact cowl is on sale in my shop! The one item currently in the shop! \o/ 😂
What’s on My Spinning Wheel
Still November Magic, for now. I have a few batches of yarn I need to wet finish, we’ll see what I make after that. Maybe more yarn for the project below.
What’s on My Needles
I'm gonna try to knit that poncho for my oldest daughter that she requested, like, a year ago, probably? Eh, *maybe* just last summer… And what was I calling this yarn? Oh, Violet Clouds, that’s right.
Okay, feels like there have been a lot of mistakes to fix and yarn to detangle (and detangle and detangle—and sometimes to untangle, just to change things up), but slowly I’m getting somewhere. It’s getting better. This is the bottom edge of half of it.
Maybe later a swatch for a stole. That would be nice… Okay, definitely. I had the yarn I was going to try for it, or I'd almost finished the yarn, but then I went to Cannon Beach, and there was a yarn store, and I think I touched almost everything… Eventually I chose a couple skeins, and I’m using them.
Oh, and I have a crochet bag on my crochet hook. Well, of course it’s a crochet bag if it’s on my crochet hook. Sorry, I’ve gotten so used to thinking of that particular project as “the crochet bag.” And my daughter informs me “crochet” is (or was?) French for “hook,” so I guess it must be the hook bag on my hook hook. 🙄 Anyway, I need to wet finish some more alpaca yarn to keep going with that bag, too. Marcy! Go do it!

My Life Outside of the Felt Comfort Shop
I need to do lots more transcription practice. Ergh. I mean, I don’t mind the practice itself at all. It’s just this whole “I’m a mortal and I have limits” thing. Boo. 😁
What Else I’m Writing
Sunday a few weeks ago I wrote the novel (Not literally. In case you were wondering.), “Limits and Sons of God.” Like I said, if I’m committed to transcription and transcription practice, I may have to give up some other things, given that I have limits. (More about that next week, in Saving My Life?) Shoot.
